Itinerary

Day 1: San José del Cabo → Playa La Fortuna (30 min, 20 km)

  • Depart from San José del Cabo heading toward Cabo del Este.
  • Drive along the coastal road to Playa La Fortuna.
  • Pick a spot to camp near the beach and enjoy a relaxed day.
  • Suggested activities: beach games, family surf lessons, and meals at local beachfront restaurants.

Where to camp: Free camping area at Playa La Fortuna.

Day 2: Playa La Fortuna

  • Enjoy a full day at Playa La Fortuna.
  • Take it easy and spend quality time at the beach with your family.
  • Suggested activities: morning surf lessons, reading in the shade, exploring the nearby coastline, and enjoying delicious meals at the beachfront spots.

Tip: Don’t forget beach toys and games for the kids.

Day 3: Playa La Fortuna → Cabo Pulmo (1.5 hrs, 70 km)

  • Pack up and depart from Playa La Fortuna around midday.
  • Drive to Cabo Pulmo and arrive in time for lunch.
  • Recommended stop: Enjoy fresh fish tacos at a local restaurant in Cabo Pulmo village.
  • Set up camp in the afternoon and relax by the sea.

Where to camp: Playa Arbolitos (entry fee applies), The Last Place RV Park, or Playa Los Frailes for wild camping.

Services: Bathrooms, showers (at Playa Arbolitos and The Last Place RV Park).

Tip: Arrive before 6 pm if camping at Playa Arbolitos to avoid the gate closing.

Day 4: Cabo Pulmo Exploration Day

  • Spend the full day exploring the marine wonders of Cabo Pulmo National Park.

  • Wind down with a sunset and dinner in the village or at your campsite.

Playa Los Frailes, Los Cabos

Day 5: Cabo Pulmo → Rancho Sol de Mayo → San José del Cabo (2.5 hrs total, approx. 90 km)

  • Pack everything the night before to make an early departure.
  • Drive inland to Rancho Sol de Mayo to spend the morning swimming in natural pools and hiking to the waterfall.
  • After a refreshing morning, head back to San José del Cabo to end the trip at Baja Overlander’s base.

Entrance fee to Rancho Sol de Mayo: $250 MXN per person.
